about
Seattle quartet that combines dimensional, propulsive grooves with mythical, dreamy songwriting. Four years ago, EarthtoneSkytone began as a duo between Carlos Snaider (guitar/vocals) and Kelsey Mines (bass/vocals) drawing influence from modern jazz, singer-songwriter and western classical music, and over the years has matured into a band that cultivates multi-layered sonic experiences in song, each with a quality of centeredness amidst spiraling musical motion. Now joined by the wizard-like synthesis textures of Antoine Martel (sous chef, High Pulp, sunking) and the deeply loving and expansive drumming of Chris Icasiano (Fleet Foxes, Bad Luck), their sound has been rounded out with precise sonic colors and a cosmic aura. Softness and smoothness is found amidst a panoply of hypnotic sound. The core thrust of their music has been to bring the magic of life to the here and now simply by tapping in to what is always there but not always readily felt. It’s a filter of sorts to hear the world through.
Two Sides, One Reflection is their first single in over two years, shared in anticipation of their album drop in late summer 2023.
lyrics
Not me is what you see
What you see is nobody
Faces carved into stone
Reminding me when I'm alone
Masked king, adorned thing
Hold my head up high
Feel the breath inside
Just one step ahead of forgetting
The shapes of life our humble setting
Fill my shape with every color
You wouldn't know still we trust each other
Two sides, one reflection
Never meant for misdirection
Not me is what I see
What I see is nobody
